A quality oven is the innovation prize for this year’s student culinary competition Nestlé Toque d’Or in New Zealand.

Event organiser, Pip Duncan, said this year’s rize is a Moffat Turbofan E31 electric convention oven filled with a selection of cookbooks.

“The oven has been generously donated by Moffat New Zealand, a leading supplier of Foodservice and Bakery equipment," she added.

Competitors in the event are required to prepare six covers of a three-course meal within two-and-a-half hours under the gaze of a panel of industry judges.

Teams must develop their own unique menus using predetermined ingredients including Nestlé Professional products, Akaroa Salmon and Zealfresh Beef.

The 20th Nestlé Toque d’Or will take place at the ASB Showgrounds in Greenlane in Auckland on Monday August 23.
